Scholarships

All Army ROTC scholarships pay full tuition and mandatory fees, $1,200 annual book allowance and monthly, tax-free stipend.

Army ROTC High School

This scholarship is for high school seniors that are planning to enter college as a freshman the fall following their senior year in high school.

The scholarship pays:

  • Full tuition plus mandatory fees
  • A $1,200 per year book allowance
  • A $420 tax-free stipend based on academic status during the academic year

Important information:

  • Guidance on how to fill out the scholarship application can be found at: APPLICATION GUIDANCE
  • Deadlines vary but are typically February/March of your senior year

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

High School Scholarships:

  • Be a US Citizen
  • Be 17 by October of the semester you are entering college and must not reach 31 years of age before December 31st of the year you graduate from college and receive your commission
  • Have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5
  • Be a high school graduate or possess an equivalent certificate by September of the year you will enter college
  • Receive a waiver for any arrest or civil conviction (if applicable)
  • Have no moral or personal conviction that will prevent you from:
    • Bearing arms.
    • Supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States.

Although medical qualification is not required to be eligible to receive a scholarship offer, medical qualification is required in order to receive the scholarship benefits. To receive the scholarship benefits you must also agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component (Army National Guard, or U.S. Army Reserve) upon graduation and receipt of your commission. *Average competitive scores in Colorado are a 3.57 unweighted GPA, 26 on the ACT and 1226 on the SAT.


CAMPUS BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

Available for current freshmen, sophomores and juniors with at least 4-semesters remaining to graduate, and seniors planning to attend graduate school.

  • Scholarships pay: Full tuition and mandatory fees
  • A $1,200 per academic year book allowance
  • A tax-free stipend of $420/month for up to 10 months each academic year. Applications are always being accepted. If you are interested in applying, contact the Army ROTC Enrollment Officer at (719) 255-3475.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Campus-based Scholarships:

  • Be a US Citizen
  • Be 17 by October of the semester you are entering college and must not reach 31 years of age before December 31st of the year you graduate from college and receive your commission
  • Have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5
  • Be a high school graduate or possess an equivalent certificate by September of the year you will enter college
  • Score a minimum of 1000 on the SAT or a 19 composite on the ACT
  • Receive a waiver for any arrest or civil conviction (if applicable)
  • Have no moral or personal conviction that will prevent you from:
    • Bearing arms
    • Supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States

GUARANTEED RESERVE FORCES DUTY (GRFD) SCHOLARSHIPS

GRFD Scholarships are scholarships available for members of the Army Reserve (AR) and Army National Guard (ARNG) who desire to commission in the Reserve Forces only.

Applicants must be members of the AR or ARNG and participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) as a cadet. Both scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Students apply for this scholarship during the fall semester of their sophomore year. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be at least an academic sophomore with no more than 6 semesters remaining until graduation.

GREEN TO GOLD SCHOLARSHIP

If you are currently on active duty and would like to commission as a Second Lieutenant (2LT), one of these Green to Gold Programs may apply:

  • 4-Year Scholarship (enter as a Freshman)
  • 3-Year Scholarship (enter as a Sophomore)
  • 2-Year Scholarship (enter as a Junior)
  • 2-Year Non-Scholarship
  • Active Duty Option (Not a scholarship. Must enter the program as an academic junior and complete their degree program within 21 months. Individual continues to receive full military pay and allowances while attending final two years of college)

ARMY ROTC NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is available to eligible Nursing students at UCCS. Scholarships can be for 4-Years, 3-Years, or 2-Years. The 3-Year and 2-Year scholarships may also require attendance at a summer training course at Fort Knox, KY, if any of the freshman or sophomore Army ROTC classes were not taken.

The scholarship pays:

  • Full tuition plus mandatory fees
  • $1,200 per year book allowance
  • A tax-free stipend based on academic status during the academic year ($300 per month for Freshmen, $350 per month for Sophomores, $450 for Juniors, and $500 for Seniors)
  • Cost of an NCLEX review course
  • Cost of the NCLEX

Eligibility Criteria Nursing Scholarships:

  • Be a US Citizen
  • Be 17 by October of the semester you are entering college and must not reach 31 years of age before December 31st of the year you graduate from college and receive your commission
  • Have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5
  • Be a high school graduate or possess an equivalent certificate by September of the year you will enter college

ARMY ROTC NONSCHOLARSHIP

Students can participate in ROTC without a scholarship and will receive the ROTC stipend benefits during their junior and senior year once contracted. If a member of the Army Reserve or Army National Guard, these students are required to participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP), which will entitle them to receive additional financial benefits through the Army Reserve or Army National Guard while completing their degree program as an Army ROTC cadet.
